Happiness
Minimalism is a movement that started with the millennials and has spread to all generations. Americans have traded in the American dream for happiness. Realizing the true dream is not in what you have, but in what you do meaningful with your time. People have found value in refocusing on family over careers and living in homes that fit their needs versus their competitive imaginations. People have reported time after time that are rich to value happiness over their financial achievements. Yet media continues to successfully sale happiness in the form of material abundance. Are you victim to this delusion? Ask yourself after you bought that last thing you thought you really wanted, how long were you genuinely happy? And when did you find something else to replace that desire once it was fulfilled?
Here are a few tips from minimalist...
Start with your stuff. Declutter your closet. Donate your time. Donate your stuff. Change your habits. Change your routines. Reclaim your time. Cultivate your passions. Find your mission.
Scripture tells us what life is truly about and this is key to happiness and its contents are hidden in the simplicity of minimalism.
Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.
Ecclesiastes 5:10 | NIV
Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
Luke 12:15 | NIV
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18 | NIV
