When words do hurt

We have all heard the saying sticks and stones may hurt my bones but words will never hurt me. The thought is just as juvenile as the contents, because we all know words do hurt and sometimes can hurt worst than a physical bruise because in some of us they may never heal. One minute we are the victim and the next the offender. Seems as if it is a senseless cycle of hurt people going on to hurt others. But God has called us to stop this cycle by telling us to not repay evil for evil. Jesus says if someone slaps you, to turn the other cheek. A lot of Christians feel like this is calling Christians to be doormats, however its calling us to peace to move over and allow God to fight our battles through using us as an example of love and forgiveness. It’s harder to not fight back than it is to give in to the emotion and fight. Ask God for strength and move over for Him to fight your battles and heal your hurt. Please see below scriptures to support my findings.
Exodus 14:14
"The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent."
Romans 12:19 King James Version (KJV)
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
James 1:12
Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
1 Peter 3:14
But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed AND DO NOT FEAR THEIR INTIMIDATION, AND DO NOT BE TROUBLED,
