When Dreams interfere with Gods will
Sometimes in life we find ourselves with checklists full of all our wants and dreams. We are taught to pursue those dreams in order to be fulfilled and happy. But what happens when our dreams do not line up with Gods plan for our lives. Those things that we hold in such high regard, turn into envy, strife, bitterness, depression, and anxiety. It doesn’t have to be this way. I read somewhere that depression is living in the past, anxiety is living in the future, and contentment is enjoying life right now. The bible calls us to be content in whichever vocation we were called to serve and to be careful of wanting more. Focus on seeking God and everything will be added to you according to his will for your life.
For the depressed:
Matthew 11:28 - Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
For the anxious:
2 Timothy 1:7 - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Philippians 4:6-7 - Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Matthew 6:30-33King James Version (KJV)
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
For the content:
Philippians 4:11-13King James Version (KJV)
11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
